The University of Maryland Special Collections in Mass Media & Culture has announced a recent acquisition: The Jeff Krulik Collection. A year-long museum exhibit for the 30th Anniversary of Heavy Metal Parking Lot will open in the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 27, 2016.

So what did I do in this office space?
I schlepped in every analog machine I had access to (save my 16mm movie projector) and I had a tape converting setup, that went from deck to deck to computer and hard drive. I saw basically what was on these tapes, and dubbed when appropriate. In some cases, I repurposed the material, such as my TV documentary on circus sideshows and human oddities, intent on creating an online channel for all the many outtakes and unused material.

Washington DC-based director/producer Jeff Krulik has screened at the Museum of Modern Art, Lincoln Center, the American Film Institute and on PBS. His resume includes work for Errol Morris, Discovery Networks, and National Geographic Channel. His honors include guest filmmaker at the 48th Annual Robert Flaherty Film Seminar, participant in WGBH/PBS Producers Academy, and inaugural recipient for the Peter C. Rollins Award for Achievement in Documentary Film, given by the Popular Culture Association. His commissioned work includes a one-hour documentary on carnival sideshow history for The Travel Channel. Krulik is also co-producer of cult documentary 'Heavy Metal Parking Lot' which was turned into a reality TV series for pop culture network TRIO called Parking Lot.' Other documentaries include 'Hitler's Hat,' 'Ernest Borgnine on the Bus,' and the award winning 'I Created Lancelot Link.' In 2008, he produced the Emmy Award-winning documentary Eatin' Crabs for Maryland Public Television's Chesapeake Bay Week.
